For those who play or coach Soccer, here are some Soccer drills that can be incorporated into training.

 

Jump and Shoot

1. Jump and Shoot (15 min)

 

 

1. 10 metres from net put 10 flat cones or rolled towels 50 cm apart. Players fro both rows:

2. Run single step over obstacle.

3. After last obstacle server (S) passes ball for shot on net. Alternate servers.

4. Repeat with side step, double leg hop forward, 3 hops forward/ 2 backward.

2. Defending two goals (15 min)

 

 

1. M starts with the ball and passes to either X1 or X2 waiting at cones.

2. X1 or X2 either shoot on small goals, if goal blocked by D, pass back to M who quickly decides whether to pass to X1 or X2.

3. D hustles across to block shots on goals.

Stress communication to get many clear shots. Rotate players through positions.

3. Fake defenders and shoot (15-30 mins)

 

 

1. A1 passes to B who receives the ball and turns with it facing direction (4)

2. At any time A passes, F sprints back, being covered goal side by D. Both F and D facing spot between A2 and goal.

3. At any time F quickly changes direction and sprints into space towards net, losing D.

4. B passes into F run.

5. F finishes with shot.

This is an attacking drill, so D must stay with F.

4. Dribbling, Overlap, Passing, Reaction (30 min)

 

1. Dribble ball randomly around field using inside and outside of either foot.

2. Runners stretch (hold 20 seconds each side 3 reps/side).

3. Groups of 3: 

X2 passes ball to X1 who touches it to the right.

X2 runs around X1 and passes ball with one touch to X3.

X3 passes to X1, X2 runs to his/her starting spot.

Repeat 10 times and change roles.

4. Quad stretch (hold 20 seconds each side, 3 reps/side).

5. In partners, one player dribbles ball, changing direction. Partner shadows him/her. Change roles.

6. Hamstring stretch (hold 20 seconds each side, 3 reps/side).

7. Ball one step distance between partners. On a command, both players try to pull back.

8. Heel stretch (hold 20 seconds each side, 3 reps/side).

Give and Go #1

 

 

1. X2 passes ball diagonally to X1.

2. X1 passes to the open cone.

3. X2 sprints straight ahead to receive ball.

Repeat in reverse direction and after 10 tries have X1 and X2 change their roles.

Give and Go #2

 

1. X1 passes ball diagonally.

2. X1, after X2 passes, sprints to ball.

3. X2, after passing, sprints straight ahead to receive ball.

4. X1 touch passes ball diagonally into run of X2.

5. X1 sprints to the end.

6. X2 passes to X1, repeat drill coming the other way.

Overlap #1

1. X1 passes ball diagonally to X2.

2. X2 runs to ball and dribbles to the end of the line.

3. X1 overlaps X2 and sprints straight ahead to beat X2 to the end of the line.

Repeat in reverse direction and with X1 and X2 changing roles.

Overlap #2

 

 

1. X1 passes ball diagonally to X2. 

2. X2 runs to ball.

3. X1 overlaps X2.

4. X2 passes into run of X1.

5. X2 runs diagonally towards the end of line.

6. X1 passes into run of X2.

7. X1 sprints to the end of the line.

Repeat in reverse direction and with X1 and X2 changing roles.
